Chocolate Protein Bites

Afternoons are hard to get through. That time between lunch and dinner can be a dangerous time, just ripe for bad snacking and undoing all the hard work you’ve doing to lose weight and eat healthy.

These are nice little protein laden snacks. They are packed with protein and with just enough sweetness to satisfy that 3 PM craving. Eat a couple of these and you’ll have no problem getting to dinner time without feeling guilty.

Chocolate Protein Bites

Healthy protein treat with just a bit of sweetness
Total Time 20 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup natural peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup coconut oil
  • 2/3 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/3 cup chia seeds
  • 1/2 cup unsalted, roasted sunflower kernels or seeds
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 scoops protein powder chocolate or vanilla works best
  • 2 cups quick cook oats

Instructions

  • Add the coconut oil, peanut butter, and chocolate chips to a microwave safe bowl and heat on high in 30 second increments until the chips are melted.Stir and try to mash the chocolate chips after each heating until everything can be mixed easily.
  • Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well.
  • Form the mixture into balls roughly 1-1/2 inch in diameter. If the mixture is too wet, add some more oats to dry it out and make it easier to handle. Once done, refrigerate them for a few hours. This makes around 20-24 bites depending on the size.

Be sure to use natural peanut butter, and not Jif or Skippy. Those have too many other additives ingredients and defeat the whole purpose of these treats.
